It offers enough support and response to push your riding while retaining the flexibility needed for a more playful, forgiving feel.

One of the biggest advantages of the Launch BOA SJ is its STR8JKT heel-hold system. Activated by BOA, the three-point harness pulls the heel securely into the back of the boot, dramatically reducing heel lift and giving a much more precise connection between your foot and the board. In our experience, this is one of those features that you notice immediately once you have ridden a boot with a genuinely effective heel-lock system.

The Launch uses a dual BOA adjustment system, with the main BOA controlling the outer lacing and a second BOA dial operating the STR8JKT heel harness. Most customers love this style of adjustment because it is quick, straightforward and easy to fine-tune while wearing gloves. There is no complicated lacing system to contend with and you can easily adjust the two areas independently.

Comfort straight out of the box

Salomon's Fit To Ride construction keeps the Launch compact and lightweight without compromising comfort. The fully heat-mouldable Comfort liner uses multidensity foam to provide a supportive, personalised fit, while the OrthoLite C2 insole adds cushioning for long days on the mountain.

The boot also uses Salomon's Feather 2.0 outsole, combining EVA with Contagrip® rubber to keep weight down while providing good grip, shock absorption and traction when walking around the resort.

Why we like the Launch BOA SJ

Medium flex offers an excellent balance of support, response and playfulness.

Excellent heel hold from the BOA-activated STR8JKT three-point harness.

Dual BOA adjustment makes getting the right fit quick and simple.

Heat-mouldable liner allows the boot to be customised to your foot.

Fit To Ride construction keeps the boot lightweight and compact.

Well suited to all-mountain and freestyle riding.

Our Verdict

If you want one snowboard boot that can do a bit of everything, the Launch BOA SJ is a very easy boot for us to recommend. The medium flex gives it a particularly useful sweet spot: supportive enough for riding the whole mountain, but still forgiving and flexible enough for freestyle riding and playing around in the park.

We are particularly impressed by the heel retention. The STR8JKT BOA system does an excellent job of keeping the heel locked down, while the simple BOA adjustment makes getting the fit right remarkably straightforward. Add in the comfortable, heat-mouldable liner and relatively low weight, and you have a boot that should suit a wide range of intermediate and advanced riders.

Technical Specification

Specification

Details

Riding Style

All-Mountain, Freestyle

Rider Level

Intermediate, Advanced

Flex

Medium

Width

Regular

Lacing System

Dual BOA®

Heel Lock

STR8JKT BOA® Pro three-point harness

Liner

Comfort, heat-mouldable multidensity foam

Insole

OrthoLite® C2

Outsole

Feather 2.0 with Contagrip® rubber

Construction

Fit To Ride / 1:1

Upper

Synthetic

Lining

Textile

Outsole Material

EVA

Article Reference

L49272000

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0941/5970/0295/files/salomon_launch_boa_sj_men_s_snowboard_boots_blue_night.jpg?v=1792429811
